"Isn't she just!" Thomas exclaimed seizing Claire by her elbow and dragging her towards Myrnin," I was just thinking, it's been so long-"
"You misunderstood me Thomas," Myrnin sighed sadly," She reminds me a bit you see…."
Claire of course knew he meant Ada even if he didn't say it aloud. Since Thomas knew Myrnin from the Victorian Era she figured he must have known Ada as well. Thomas frowned looking embarrassed," I shouldn't have chosen that dress for her should I, we can pick a different one if-"
"No," Myrnin interrupted him," It's fine Thomas, you'd just be digging yourself a larger hole by having her change it." Thomas nodded blushing furiously before offering his arm to Claire, "I shall escort you two to my home where you shall be staying for your…er vacation," he ended lamely. Thomas escorted them back outside, stopping briefly to say farewell to Miss Rouge. They walked for nearly half an hour past amazing replicas of Victorian houses, churches, and shops. The entire city was alive with activity, there was everything from nobles to children begging on the streets. To Claire's surprise there were not only vampires, but humans too. They all acted as if this was normal everyday life, which for them it probably was. Noticing her expression Thomas happily began to tell her about the mixture," All of these people are decedents of the original crowd I brought here back in 1836. You see I realized my world was changing rapidly, due to my sister's death and my recent vampirism, and I wasn't quite ready to let that happen. So I began constructing a city the same as London, but with more freedom and opportunities than London had to offer. As soon as it was ready I began moving people here creating a perfect model of my time."
"But wouldn't people catch on to new trends and such," Claire asked, curious as to how it could remain the same for so long.
"Everything here is carefully watched over by the higher class, Claire, we have been around for some time and are more than capable of keeping people ignorant when it suits us." Myrnin piped up from the other side of Thomas.
"Yes and it doesn't hurt to be a vampire," Thomas chuckled," yes but we maintain order and ignorance well enough, plus the only ones who leave are us of the higher class or vampires. You of course are an exception to that rule." He added before pausing in front of a large mansion. Mansion was really the only word to describe this place. It was three stories high and the width of about two large houses. "Well, dear Claire, welcome to my humble abode." Thomas announced proudly flourishing his arms in an elaborate bow.
"Compensating as usual," Myrnin stage whispered to Claire making his friend blush crimson once more.
